We Serve
The Royal Canadian Legion's mission is to serve veterans, ex-service persons and their
dependents as well as supporting many community activities.
Annually the Legion contributes millions of dollars in financial and other assistance to:
- Seniors: Care, Housing, Medical services and Training
- Cadets, Scouts, Guides
- Youth Sports
- Scholarships and Bursaries
- Geriatric Education
- Charitable Organizations
- Veteran Services
POPPY
The Annual Poppy Campaign which perpetuates the act of remembrance, receives donations to assist veterans, others who served and are in need, and the community in general. The Legion sponsors national literary and poster competitions for youths and provides remembrance material for schools. Over $5,000,000 is distributed to needy ex-service persons, their dependents and for community services.
BRANCHES
The Royal Canadian Legion has close to 400,000 members,
affiliates and Ladies Auxiliary in 1,500 branches in Canada , the U.S.A. and Germany.
MEMBERSHIP
You may be eligible for ordinary membership if you are a veteran,
serving or ex-serving person of the Regular or Reserve forces,
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police or The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary.
Some Veterans of the Vietnam War may also be eligible.
Associate membership is open to children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, spouses,
widows and widowers of those who have served, and is also open to Cadets, and officers of
the Navy League of Canada.
The Royal Canadian Legion needs new Members to ensure the continuation of
the service it gives to our communities across Canada.
